Nervos Network’s Force Bridge Hacked, $3M Stolen, Laundered via Tornado Cash

Nervos Network has become the latest victim in a string of blockchain security breaches, with its Force Bridge reportedly compromised by attackers who drained approximately $3 million in digital assets. The breach has once again brought the spotlight on cross-chain bridges—key infrastructure increasingly vulnerable to exploits.

Initial alerts came from Magickbase, the team behind a Nervos-integrated wallet, which flagged unusual activity on Force Bridge.

“We’ve detected abnormal activity on #ForceBridge and have paused the service as a precaution,” they posted on X, assuring users that investigations are ongoing.

Shortly after, blockchain security firm Cyvers provided a more detailed analysis. According to Cyvers, a suspicious address had taken control of the bridge and initiated unauthorized asset transfers outside the Nervos ecosystem. The stolen funds were then swiftly converted to Ethereum and funneled through Tornado Cash, a crypto mixer notorious for masking transaction trails.

The Nervos Network itself has yet to issue a formal statement, only reposting Magickbase’s alert. Meanwhile, users and observers are raising concerns about the broader implications of such breaches.

This is far from an isolated incident. Cross-chain bridges, such as those belonging to Ronin, Binance, Orbit Chain, and ALEX, have all suffered similar fates over the past year. Despite Nervos’ strong technical credentials, including its UTXO-smart contract hybrid model, the breach underscores how even sophisticated networks remain vulnerable at their weakest points.

The use of Tornado Cash for laundering adds fuel to the ongoing privacy vs. compliance debate. While proponents argue the tool supports legitimate privacy, its repeated use by bad actors has sparked criticism and regulatory scrutiny.
