Devcon 8 Brings Ethereum’s Global Developer Community to Mumbai

The Ethereum Foundation brings Devcon 8 to Mumbai from November 3 to 6, 2026 at the Jio World Centre. The conference lands in India for the first time, with nine tracks, more than 300 speakers and contributors including Vitalik Buterin, and supporters led by Base and Fluid.

Mumbai, India — Devcon, the Ethereum Foundation’s global gathering for the people building decentralized systems, will take place November 3-6, 2026, at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, India. The four-day event will bring together developers, researchers, designers, open-source contributors, and communities from India and around the world to learn, build, and connect.

A global gathering for builders

Devcon is designed first and foremost as a gathering for the development community. Its programming brings together people working across Ethereum and the wider open-source ecosystem to exchange technical knowledge, explore new approaches, and collaborate on systems intended to be open, private, secure, censorship-resistant, and verifiable.

This year’s event will place particular emphasis on the people building the underlying technology: from Ethereum’s core protocol and applied cryptography to privacy, security, permissionless networks, and open and verifiable infrastructure.

Over 300 speakers and contributors featured at Devcon this year include Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder; Justin Drake, Ethereum Foundation researcher; Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon co-founder; Roger Dingledine, co-founder of the Tor Project; Audrey Tang, former Minister of Digital Affairs of Taiwan; and many others from across the Ethereum and open-source communities. Programming for Devcon 8 spans nine tracks: Core Protocol; Privacy & Consent; Security; Futures Worth Building; Users, Builders & Agents; Rights, Freedoms & Governance; Applied Cryptography; Permissionless Networks; and Open & Verifiable Stack.

We extend our thanks to the supporters of Devcon 8: our Flagship supporters, Base and Fluid, and our Core supporters, Gnosis, Golem, Kleros, and OpenZeppelin, along with support from Bitget Wallet, Circle, Dedaub, ENS, Fair Food Data, Nethermind, Ordocode, Peer (ZKP2P), Trail of Bits, Virtuals, World, CowSwap, and Bitrefill. We also thank some of our impact partners, LFDT, UNICEF, Graphene, and EFF, whose support helps make this gathering possible.

Why India?

India is home to a large community of software engineers and open-source contributors, alongside an active Ethereum ecosystem. Devcon aims to connect that community more closely with developers and researchers from around the world while creating opportunities for new contributors to participate directly in Ethereum’s development. The months leading up to Devcon also included Road to Devcon initiatives supporting local projects, academic communities, events, and contributors across India, extending participation beyond the four days of the conference itself.

What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is an open-source, decentralized computing platform maintained and developed by a global community. It provides infrastructure for applications and systems that can operate without depending on a single company or intermediary, with areas of development spanning payments, identity, coordination, privacy, public goods, and other uses.

About Ethereum Foundation and Devcon

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a non-profit that supports the Ethereum ecosystem. It is part of a larger community of organizations and individuals that fund protocol development, grow the ecosystem, and advocate for Ethereum. It is at the frontier of a new kind of organization: one that supports a blockchain and its ecosystem without controlling it, ensuring that Ethereum’s protocol and core application layers become robust and trustless enough to reliably function and evolve even if the Foundation and today’s core developers disappeared tomorrow.

Devcon is the Ethereum Foundation’s global event for the communities building Ethereum and other open-source, decentralized technologies. Since its first edition in 2014, Devcon has brought together developers, researchers, designers, organizers, and other contributors to learn from one another, collaborate, and advance the technologies and ideas behind decentralized systems.
