Mumbai-based health-tech platform Skin Beyond Borders (SkinBB) has launched its innovative Skincare Metaverse, SkinBB.com, marking a new development in India’s Rs 24,000 crore skincare market. The platform integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with clinical knowledge, aiming to bridge the gap between consumers, dermatologists, and industry players.

Central to SkinBB’s offering is LabelLooker 1.0, an AI-powered tool that enables users to scan and analyze skincare product ingredients. The feature is built on Ingredipedia, a proprietary database developed in collaboration with VES College of Pharmacy, Mumbai. Currently, Ingredipedia includes over 1,000 ingredients and continues to expand. This tool seeks to provide consumers with a clearer understanding of what goes into their skincare products.

Additionally, SkinBB’s platform fosters a collaborative community where users can directly interact with dermatologists and access personalized skincare advice. The platform is actively growing its network, with plans to onboard over 100 dermatologists, offering expert insights to help users make informed decisions.

For industry partners, SkinBB offers a unique space to list products for free, gain real-time market insights, and engage with consumers. This data-driven approach aims to encourage companies to develop products that align more closely with consumer needs.

Ajit Marathe, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of SkinBB, describes the platform as a “Skincare Confluence” where science, consumer needs, and industry innovation meet. Co-founders Dr. Soma Sarkar and Dr. Pravin Banodkar emphasize the platform’s commitment to unbiased, science-based education and transparent communication.

To raise awareness, SkinBB has also launched the #Unlabelthetruth campaign, focusing on the importance of understanding skincare ingredients. Looking ahead, SkinBB plans to enhance its offerings with LabelLooker 2.0 and AI-powered virtual skin assessments, further empowering consumers to make evidence-based skincare decisions.
