- Bitwise has acquired London-based Ethereum staking provider Attestant, bringing its total client assets under management to over $10 billion.
- Attestant’s team and services will rebrand as Bitwise Onchain Solutions, focusing on Ethereum staking and expanding to additional protocols.
Bitwise Asset Management, a leading crypto index fund manager, has acquired Attestant Limited, a London-based non-custodial Ethereum staking provider. The deal significantly bolsters Bitwise’s offerings for institutional investors and positions the firm as a key player in the growing staking market. With this acquisition, Bitwise’s total client assets under management surpass $10 billion, up from $6.3 billion previously.
Attestant, known for its institutional-grade Ethereum staking services, manages approximately $4 billion in staked assets. Its services cater to financial institutions, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. The firm has also contributed to the Ethereum ecosystem through open-source projects like Dirk and Vouch and by participating in critical research initiatives. The 11-member Attestant team, including co-founders Jim McDonald, Das, and Dr. Steve Berryman, will join Bitwise as part of its newly branded Onchain Solutions division.
Under the Onchain Solutions group, Bitwise plans to enhance its Ethereum staking services, introduce staking solutions for other protocols, and continue supporting the open-source community. The services will initially require a minimum stake of $10 million, targeting institutional clients seeking robust, professional-grade staking options.
“We want Bitwise to be the best possible partner to investors in the crypto space,” said Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley.
“This acquisition allows us to expand the ways we can help investors meet their objectives. The Attestant team and product are best-in-class, and we’re excited to build on this solution for clients.”
The move comes as demand for Ethereum staking continues to rise. According to recent data, the staking rewards rate for Ethereum hovered around 3% during the third quarter of 2024, reflecting consistent investor interest. Bitwise noted that approximately one in five of its clients currently stake their assets, a number expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
Galaxy Digital Partners LLC served as the exclusive financial advisor for Attestant during the acquisition. The deal marks another milestone for Bitwise as it broadens its services to meet the evolving needs of the digital asset ecosystem.
