QUICK BITE
- Krutrim AI Cloud offers free access to developers until Diwali 2024, backed by a ₹100 crore investment to support India’s AI ecosystem.
- Since its launch, Krutrim AI Cloud has handled 250 billion API calls, generated 1 trillion tokens, and attracted over 25,000 developers.
- Ola plans to create India’s first AI cloud by 2026, powered by their own Bodhi chips, while introducing 50+ new services including AI models, GPU slicing, and AI Studio.
At Ola Sankalp 2024, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola and Krutrim, shared several updates about Krutrim, especially for developers. The biggest news was that Krutrim Cloud will be free for developers until Diwali this year.
Additionally, the company shared that in the 6 months since Krutrim Cloud launched, it has handled around 250 billion API calls and generated 1 trillion tokens. Aggarwal also mentioned their plan to create India’s first artificial intelligence (AI) cloud in their own data centers, powered by their own Bodhi chips, expected to launch by 2026.
What is Krutrim AI Cloud?
Launched in early 2024, Krutrim AI Cloud provides a wide range of AI tools and services for developers, researchers, and businesses. The platform offers GPU-as-a-service, model-as-a-service, and easy-to-use no-code and low-code options, specifically designed for India’s needs. Since its launch, more than 25,000 developers have used it, making around 250 billion API calls.
Why Free Access Until Diwali?
Krutrim AI Cloud is offering free access until Diwali, not just as a promotion, but to help more people start using its services. The goal is to make it easier for developers and startups, who often find cloud services expensive, to try out the platform. With a ₹100 crore investment behind this initiative, it’s one of the biggest efforts to support developers right now.
Key Features of Krutrim AI
The company launched more than 50 new services on Krutrim Cloud, including infrastructure options like virtual machines, cloud storage, enhanced data security, and observability tools for precise data monitoring.
Here are some of the key features:
- Virtual Machines and Cloud Storage: Scalable and secure infrastructure for a wide range of applications.
- AI Models and Platforms: An extensive model catalog with large language models (LLMs) and computer vision tools, offering everything needed for AI development in one place.
- AI Studio: A developer-friendly platform to build, train, and deploy AI applications with minimal coding effort.
- GPU Slicing: Enables cost-effective GPU resource sharing, allowing multiple users to access the same GPU efficiently.
Aggarwal also highlighted how Dashtoon, an early-stage startup, is utilizing Krutrim AI Cloud to train and fine-tune its models. Together, another startup, is leveraging Ola Maps to improve its customer experience.
Ola also introduced AI pods for budget-friendly GPU access, along with an AI studio to build advanced AI apps, a model library with LLMs and vision models, and tools for no-code/low-code training, fine-tuning, inference, and model testing.
Back in May, Ola rolled out Krutrim AI Cloud, its own platform for businesses, researchers, and developers. The company also launched a separate Android app for its AI assistant, offering cutting-edge AI computing power, including Krutrim’s core models.
